BIGGEST LOSER CHALLENGE

   The alarming statistic that 44% of children aged 5-17 in Madera County are considered overweight or obese serves as a wake-up call to the community. In response, Madera County FCA, in partnership with local entrepreneur Mario Olmos, is launching the Biggest Loser ‘Family Edition’ to address this critical issue. The initiative aims to educate families on nutrition, meal planning, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle on a budget. Participants will have the chance to win a share of $25,000 in cash prizes, spread across five categories, with a total of 30 winners. To encourage participation, families will receive a crockpot upon successful completion of the program, which includes attending at least five of the six nutrition classes. The program's objective is to involve up to 500 families and raise $35,000 to cover costs and prizes. This community-driven event, supported by local businesses and Mayor Cece Gallegos, seeks to foster a healthier future for Madera County's children. Some key points:

Each family will make a $50 deposit to join and receive their crock pot. they must attend 5 of 6 classes to "receive their crock pot for FREE.  Any families who do not complete will forfeit their $50 for the mission to keep - our goal is to raise 35,000 for costs and prizes. 25000 in cash prizes will be redistributed to winning participants. 10,000 for costs associated with challenge. any left over funds will stay with the mission and/or provide a dinner for team that supports this challenge. -any other donations via cash, food or clothing will be accepted for the mission.
