Why a Character Coach?
You can mentor and lead young athletes in middle and high schools’ sports' teams thus have a direct impact in your community. Character Coaches encourage, disciple, and LOVE their players.
What is a Character Coach?
A Character Coach is a volunteer who engages, equips, and empowers coaches and athletes through personal, character, and leadership development for a program or team..
A Character Coach establishes a consistent presence with specific teams and sets the tone for future ministry opportunities in huddles, 1 on 1 discipleship, and events.

We want to encourage our athletic programs to "Meet in the Middle" after games and come together other than just shake hands. A time of connection and prayer and realize that win or loose we all are coming from Christ's victory.
Meeting in the middle for prayer after a game is a heartfelt tradition that embodies the spirit of camaraderie and unity among participants. This gathering serves as a moment to reflect on the challenges and triumphs faced during the game, giving thanks for the opportunity to compete and grow together. It is a powerful reminder that sportsmanship transcends competition, fostering a sense of community and shared values. Through these post-game prayers, members of the FCA not only strengthen their faith but also build lasting connections with one another, celebrating the deeper significance of sports beyond the scoreboard.
Take your leadership faith to your program!
CAMPUS HIGHLIGHT
Madera High
Advisors: Lance Leach, Daniel Martinez & Judy Shaubach
The Madera High FCA 2024-25 School year has focused on 3 things: Prayer, the Word of God and Worship.
We have had special speakers in the Fall and Spring bring an inspiring message around those themes, followed by student breakout groups the following weeks. The student breakout groups have been lead by a group of 16 Sophomore, Junior and Senior students.
We have also used our See You At the Pole (Prayer), Homecoming Water Bottle Outreach (the Word) and Thanksgiving & Christmas Outreaches (Worship) to amplify these three messages.
We have seen our students take leadership in so many areas including leading these breakout groups, serving each other at club meetings and their school mates and community members in various outreaches.
The club members number about 140 with a 100-110 meeting bi-monthly. The students are spread evenly through all 4 grade levels with about 30+ sophomores leading the attendance at the moment.
We have seen numerous salvations and recommitments to Christ. The FCA mission at Madera High is to create a place for God’s peace, His presence and His people to be found!
We have two teachers, a worship leader, youth pastor and 2 Lead Pastors and one community businessman who help weekly with meetings.
ARE YOU A CHAMPION?
